Paula K. Strutzel Memorial Scholarship
The Paula K. Strutzel Memorial Scholarship was established to honor the memory of our Past President, Paula, who was a single mother and a champion of education. She always stressed “to never stop reading and learning”. Paula was not only known for her activism with the association, but as a leader that inspired us all.
This $500.00 per year scholarship is available to WSAPT members in good standing, children of such members, and members of ICC Chapters within the State of Washington and their children. An applicant shall be enrolled in an accredited course in one of the following fields of study: Construction Management, Building or Fire Code Administration, Planning or Land Use, Business Administration, or a related technical field. Applicants must demonstrate a grade point average of 3.0 or better and meet the course enrollment career field(s) as stated above. First consideration shall be given to WSAPT members in good standing, second consideration shall be given to children of WSAPT members in good standing, and third consideration shall be given to members of ICC Chapters within the State of Washington and their children.
In order for an applicant to be considered for this scholarship, the applicant must submit the following:
- Paula K. Strutzel Memorial Scholarship application
- Resume (work or school)
- 500 word essay including long and short term goals, past accomplishments, volunteer or community activities, special memberships and any involvement with existing building safety organizations
- Letters of recommendation (minimum of one character and one professional reference)
